Hello there! Thank you so much for visiting my little corner of the internet and also for having interest in this blog post to learn more about the one behind the camera! I wanted to take the time to share a little bit more about me and how I started my business! It all began back in 2012 when I was getting my bachelors degree at the University of California, Irvine. I grew up doing musical theatre and so I was studying Drama at UC Irvine with a minor in education. My plan was to get my teaching credential and be an elementary school teacher. I had started my photography business while in college but the plan was to still be a teacher. Once I was accepted into the credential program at UC Irvine I had to make the decision to stick with the program or follow my heart and my true passion and become a wedding photographer. I have always loved photography but never, ever thought it would be my career. My business began in 2012 but I quickly found myself drawn to the wedding industry so I began photographing weddings in 2014.
I am beyond grateful to have found my passion in life. I absolutely love what I do and wouldn’t have it any other way. Since I began my business I have had the privilege of working with so many wonderful couples. I really take pride in the relationship I create with my clients. From the first email exchange, to when I send off their wedding gallery, I am always there to answer any questions and simply make them feel comfortable throughout the entire process. To ensure my clients receive the best service possible, I only photograph a limited number of weddings each year.
I consider myself a film photographer, which means I shoot primarily film. For portrait/ engagement sessions I shoot 100% film and for weddings my preferred choice of medium is film. Once I started shooting film, I never looked back. Film is timeless which is what I want for my clients. The colors and textures that film can produce are absolutely breathtaking.
I am very proud to say that you can find my work in a variety of well-known publications. I am always so honored and grateful when my images are featured in different wedding blogs and magazines. You can find my work on Style Me Pretty, BRIDES, Wedding Sparrow, Magnolia Rouge, 100 Layer Cake and many more…
A little bit about my personal life: I met my husband when I was 12 years old and we began dating in 2007 – and have been together ever since. If you are a bride or groom planning your wedding, I have been there and know exactly what you are going through. It can be very stressful at times, but remember just to relax and trust the professionals you have hired to make the day go smoothly. In the end, you are marrying your best friend and that is all that really matters. On our wedding day, it was pouring rain which would seem like a nightmare for a bride that was a wedding photographer. I am not going to lie and say the weather didn’t bother me at all but to be completely honest that was something that was out of my control, and Jared and I just laughed at each other and focused on what really mattered – all of our closest friends and family were there under one roof supporting our relationship. Now whenever it rains, I think of our wedding day and how amazing it was. So don’t worry if things don’t turn out exactly how you have in your mind. That is life, and that is ok! We currently live in Southern California with our yellow lab mix, Mae and our Australian Shepherd, Adelaide! We love working on our house and spending time with our families!
I also wanted to share some fun facts about myself that people may not know! 1) I do not drink coffee, I am definitely more of a tea person. 2) For about three years I worked as a performer at Disneyland. I was very good friends with a couple Disney Princesses. Can you guess which ones? 3) I am half Puerto Rican. My mom moved here when she was 21 and met my dad, fell in love, and they then had me and my younger brother. But a lot of my immediate family lives in Puerto Rico!
Anyways, thank you for learning more about me and my business. Please don’t hesitate to reach out and say hello!! If you are a couple wanting to inquire about your wedding, please contact me here. If you are a fellow photographer and would like to inquire about mentoring sessions please feel free to contact me directly at mallory[at]mallorydawn.com! I would absolutely love to hear from you!
